Description
The flicker-free LED daylight lamp was specially developed for keeping parrots indoors, with the aim of offering these birds similar lighting conditions to those outside. Therefore, the light from this daylight lamp is very bright, with a color temperature of 5000 K - 5200 K. The color temperature of the integrated moonlight is 6000 K - 6200 K. The Avifood Lux consumes 0.056 kilowatts (kW) of electricity per hour.
As long as the lighting conditions allow it, parrots can perceive colors indoors just as well as outdoors thanks to their very good eyesight. Sunlight has a color rendering index (CRI) of 100. The CRI of the Avifood Lux is between 92-95. The higher the CRI of a lamp, the more natural the colors appear to the eyes of parrots and parakeets.
Environmental compatibility and sustainability played a major role in the development of the lamp. Avifood Lux has a service life of around 55,000 hours (= 12.5 years at 12 hours per day). After that, the lamp can be fitted with new LEDs and used again. The lamp is handmade in Germany.
The spectral diagrams of the day and night light of the Avifood Lux can be seen in the pictures. This visible light does not contain any UV-A or UV-B light. A second lamp with UV-A and UV-B light visible to parrots is in preparation.
All components of the Avifood Lux lighting system can be connected to each other using simple plug connections and expanded to up to 4 different lamps with the appropriate converter and distributor.
The lamp can be attached to the ceiling or wall using the brackets included in delivery. Alternatively, the lamp can be attached to a thin UV-permeable Plexiglas panel with screws (both not included) and placed directly on the wire of the indoor aviary.
In case parrots could have direct contact with the lamp, its parts or cables, we recommend that these parts be effectively protected from being bitten (e.g. by using wire or empty pipes).
As basic equipment we recommend the following products: an Avifood Lux dimmable LED daylight lamp, an Avifood Lux converter 24 V - 120 W for 2 dimmable LED daylight lamps, an Avifood Lux control for day and night light, suitable for the season.
An Avifood Lux distributor for 2 LED daylight lamps is recommended so that the system can be expanded at a later date with a second lamp - either a second daylight lamp or, as soon as available, with a UV-A and UV-B light lamp.
